For the past three years, I've been working for a visual effects studio in Dallas, Texas, as a Flash Developer on occasional interactive projects. But recently the Flash projects have diminished and the Web Development doesn't keep me busy enough.
They needed to re-purpose my programming efforts so I was tasked with learning Python and helping update and create pipeline tools to streamline their production. They use Autodesk Softimage for all their animation and the majority of their modeling, which I am being throw head first into learning for the purposes of understanding the inner workings for interacting through Python.
I decided to keep this blog as a way to track my progress and hopefully help someone else along their path someday. The posts will be written from the mindset of a complete newbie at first but will progress over time.
As of this writing, 01/25/2012, I have been learning Python for just over a week and I've only learned the extreme basics of using Softimage.
